●DIR EN GREY open the new year with tour "THE UNWAVERING FACT OF TOMORROW TOUR2010-2011"which continued from the previous year. On January 26th they release new single 『Hageshisa To, Kono Mune No Naka De Karamitsuita Shakunetsu No Yami』. It has been 14 months since their last single release.
Soon after the release, they go back to recording until May, when they begin their Official Fan Club 「a knot」 exclusive tour"TOUR2011 THE DECOMPOSITION OF THE MOON". This 8 show tour included venues in Osaka, Tokyo, Nagoya, and Kyoto. At the shows, they performed their soon-to-be-released single 『DIFFERENT SENSE』.
『DIFFERENT SENSE』was released on June 22nd.
●Their long awaited 8th original album『DUM SPIRO SPERO』 completes. It has been 2 years and 9 months since their last album 『UROBOROS』was released. This album came out on August 3rd in Japan along with 20 other countries worldwide.
●After their album release, they performed at "Wacken Open Air"in Germany. It has been 4 years since their last performance at this biggest heavy metal open air in the world. After the show, they began their tour"TOUR2011 PARADOX OF RETALIATION". This European tour consisted of 9 countries including Netherlands, France, and England. This tour ended on August 25th in Moscow, Russia.
●On September 13th, they perform "TOUR2011 AGE QUOD AGIS Ratio ducat, non fortuna -Zombie-"at CLUB CITTA' in Kawasaki.
With no prior information given out, and this also being a free invitation-only show, there were speculations. But it turned out to be a very special show. The band members came out and performed with the same special make-up they wore in the 『DIFFERENT SENSE』music video.
●After releasing album 『DUM SPIRO SPERO』, their first Japan tour"TOUR2011 AGE QUOD AGIS"officially began on September 15th. This 28 show tour included a 2 day performance at SHINKIBA STUDIO COAST on November 7th and 8th.
Right after this tour, they performed at TOKYO DOME CITY HALL on November 11th. At this show, the music was symphonically arranged from the beginning to end, giving the audience a new staging experience.
●On November 23rd, they began their American Continental tour"TOUR2011 AGE QUOD AGIS", beginning in Santiago, Chile South America and moving up to the northern part of the continent as they toured. They were on the road for a month. This tour included 7 counties with 18 shows. December 23rd was their last show of this tour and of this year in West Hollywood.
